We own houses.

This is, quite literally, the profession we have chosen: to maintain a place so that it welcomes guests, and to maintain it with high standards. This requires attention, time, and the conviction that an apartment where one sleeps for a few nights deserves as much care as a house where one lives.

We named our house Maison Afan. Afan means forest in the Fang language, spoken in the heart of central equatorial Africa. The word evokes the shelter the forest offers to those who stop there. That is what we want to offer: shelter.

Our keys open different kinds of spaces — apartments in the heart of the city, houses of tomorrow, perhaps even other forms. But all share the same attention to detail: carefully chosen linens, authentic materials, furnishings selected without compromise, and that particular way of preparing a space so that, from the moment you arrive, you feel welcomed rather than simply housed.

Receiving a guest is less about lending them space than about showing them care. A place, to be worthy of being stayed in, must have been loved before one arrives there — and we believe that this can be felt, without needing to be said.

Today, our first locations are in Pau, under the name Cœur de Pau. Tomorrow, others will follow, in France and beyond, under different local names but with the same high standards. Maison Afan is the parent company; each city will have its own distinct character.

Our promise can be summed up in one sentence, and we work on it every day: a place that welcomes you rather than just houses you.

And if everything goes as we hope, you will come back.
